Should President Obama be concerned? Bo Obama is now holding his own press conferences.- The first cancer drug developed specifically for dogs has been approved by the FDA. Called Palladia, the medication treats cutaneous mast cell tumors which account for about 20% of skin cancer in dogs. Researchers found that approximately 60% of dogs had their tumors disappear, shrink, or stop growing after taking Palladia.
- Miami Beach adds a fifth dog park. The new “bark park” in the South Pointe area will be located at Second Street and Washington Avenue.
- British police adopting homeless dogs and training them to sniff out cash that may be the proceeds of crime, as well as drugs and firearms. Rocco, an 18-month-old cocker spaniel, greets incoming ferries to detect large amounts of cash. He, and the other dogs in the program, helped seize over 3 million British pounds last year.
- Moscow’s stray dogs now commuting back and forth from the suburbs on the subway. As industrial areas that the dogs used to use for shelter are transformed into shopping centers and apartment complexes, they’ve adapted. The dogs now take the subway into the city in the mornings to forage for food and return home to the suburbs in the evening. Check out the video below:
